I Used to Be a Maker

I'm a military brat. If you don't know what that means, I basically moved around a lot during my childhood. Pretty much every two years. Moving a lot has it's positives and negatives. One thing I looked forward to the most when we moved was the empty boxes in the end, because I loved turning those boxes into complex box forts. Since I was part of a family of four, we had a lot of boxes! I would design multi-room houses by building walls with the boxes, or I could take a refrigerator box and turn it on its side and design a mini castle complete with windows and a draw bridge. My imagination and creativity would run wild with ideas on how I could build and furnish my box forts!
I wouldn't be able to construct these masterpieces without a trusty pair of scissors. My scissors were very versatile. I could use them the intended way to cut holes and doors or open it up and use it as a knife or saw. I had my fair share of cuts and bloody fingers, but its all part of the learning process and growing up!

Of course, I enjoyed designing and creating with legos! When I bought a lego set I usually skipped the pre-made instruction manual and used the pieces to design my own lego models.

I'm also a big fan of Christmas and really enjoyed building ginger bread houses. Here's a gingerbread house military base I created, complete with jets, helicopters, and a runway.
